The Album “Drawings. Moisey Gamburd” is a selection of 24 drawings by Moisey (Max) Gamburd (1903-1954) from the collection of the artist’s daughter.
“His drawings on show, both nudes and portraits in pencil, charcoal and crayon, show him to be a valuable master in the modern academic tradition, a master of depiction of character and volumetric monumentality. Some of the drawings here compare favorably with those of the best of Augustus John, being rendered with a felicity of line and texture, or bold thatched strokes of soft pencil, that are positively breathtaking” (Meir Ronnen, “The Lost Artist”, Jerusalem Post, November 30, 1984).
Text to the album – in Hebrew, Russian and English.
Edition of Miriam Gamburd, 1988, 28/21.7 cm.
